Fishing Report - April 11th

Today I was out with Ron N. and Jim F. Again, another great day in the morning with plenty of action till just after lunch and then they seemed to shut off. We found fish near spawning redds and in many pools. It looks like the spring push has finally made it. We landed 8, and all but one were chrome silver. By the looks of it, the fishing will remain solid well into May. Still prime dates this spring to be had!!

Please give us a call (231-250-9745) or Email Jon if you would like to get more info.

Fishing Report - April 10th

Fished with long time client Ron N. and his grandson Alex. Alex was out today looking for his first steelhead and he found it!! The day started a little slow but Ron got us started with a nice hen...soon after Alex answered with a beautiful spring steelie. We then lost a few before Ron put the last fish of the day in the net. Total was 3 for like 6 or 7. The river is VERY BUSY!!! Lots of traffic this weekend. Congrats Alex!!! Looking forward to our next trip.

Fishing Report - April 8th

Today I was back on the home waters with Scott B. and Steve S. We were only out for a 1/2 day but that was all we needed to have a pretty good day. We had to change locations several times to locate the fish but the action remained steady but not fast and furious. The river still has plenty of color and has not fallen that much in the last 3 or 4 days. We still need the river to drop about 12-15 inches before the fishing really gets cranked up.

Fishing Report - April 6th

Today I fished with Vince and Dave on the Muskegon river.......Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh good to be back on the home water. The river is still a few days out, but the conditions were better than the last 7 days prior. Visibility was down to 4-5 feet with the water seeming to drop this morning. Temps were near the 40 degree mark, helping to move a few winter fish near the gravel. We hooked into some very camera shy fish today with the days total 0-6 hookups. The word is that an area guide has been doing VERY well on the White river during this recent high water spell. Looks like it may be a good bet for the wading angler this weekend. The PM however is still a little slow, however, there are fish to be had.

Fishing Report - April 4th

Today I fished with some guys all the way from England. Gary P. and Peter E. had been out several days prior with Pete H. fishing the Grand and the Muskegon with pretty good success for the conditions. I decided to take the guys on the Grand hoping that the dam would help concentrate fish during the high water. I was not totally wrong, we ended up hooking several, but only boating one. We did however witness plenty of action around us.

Fishing Report - March 31th / April 1st

March 31-April 3 trips were canceled due to high unfishable rivers...

Trips will resume April 4th. The PM, Muskegon and Manistee rivers are all very high. Please use caution if you go out this weekend. The run should be on when the water drops!!

Still some dates left this month. I will offer a special rate to anyone that book a trip this month or in early may.

Fishing Report - March 30th

Fished today with John T. and Glenn M. We fished very hard in very poor conditions. The river was still rising and the fish were turned off because of it. We did manage 1 steelhead and a nice rainbow on large egg flies. The river has risen about 18" in the last 36 hours, and gotten very muddy. Look for the run to be going full force as the water receeds.

Sorry no pics today.

Fishing Report - March 29th

Fished with Jay and Kim today. We had to deal with rising and very dirty water....big eggs in brighter colors worked for us today. We ended up with 4 in the boat and a couple throw back walleye to finish the day. What a difference a day makes....it was a case of should have been here yesterday. Beautiful day on the river with these guys...we had a blast.

Fishing Report - March 28th

Fished with Jim (the fish) and Shane today. We started a little slow but once we gained momentum, we couldn't be stopped! Had a fantastic day and even caught a few in the high day sun....A task not easily accomplished lately. Mostly egg patterns and a fish or two on hex nymphs. The water started to rise around lunch and by the end of the day had come up a good 4". Nice pic of spring chrome....11.5 lb female.

Fishing Report - March 26th

I was out today with Greg C and his brother Justin. Again, Mr. Sunshine reared its ugly head!!! Same senario as earlier...the morning was the best until we found a couple in the later afternoon. Some shade had settled on a few pools. No huge numbers, but we did manage 4 in the boat and lost a couple. Plus the bonus walleye, browns, and rainbows. A very nice day to be out with several nice fish to make it well worth the effort these guy's put forth. Looks like a few spring fish are starting to trickle in...Happy Easter!!

Looks like a big run should be here by the first week of April!! Temps in the 50's-60's this week will get them coming

Fishing Report - March 25th

Good Friday!!! It was good to us....The fish we found today were in groups. Many holes with ZERO but we did find a few with a fish or two or three or four. We did well today on natural colored small eggs and small stonefly imitations. The tiny winter blacks are hatching daily starting at around 10 ish and lasting through early afternoon.

The first fish of the day was a awesome 11.5 lb male,(weighed). My fault I forgot my camera...sorry guys.

The pressure is still on the rise. We, also, landed the first walleye of the spring...RELEASED!!! Season is closed.

Fishing Report - March 24th

I was out with Bruce and Jim today....another decent day,the water temps are still on the cold side making the fish a little tempermental. The mornig bite has been the best on the bright days. Most of the action latley has shut down during the high sun times of the day. FIND SHADE!!! We ended up landing 3 and loosing a couple also. Small eggs and very small nymphs are the trick. We need some warm days to get the dumb fresh fish up the river. The fishing pressure has started picking up!

Fishing Report - March 21st,22nd

I was out with the Charlie B. group the last two days and the fishing was steady both days. Day one we boated only two, but we lost 3 or more. Plus landed a beautiful 18" rainbow. Multi colored egg flies did the trick.

Day two started great, we landed 3 fish out of the first 3 spots we fished. The middle of the day was slow due to the bright sun, but later in the afternoon we found a few more. Landing 2 and loosing 2, giving us 5 in the boat for the day. Today the fish liked both eggs and smaller nymphs.

Fishing Report - Saturday, March 19th

Fished with Jim F. Saturday morning. We greeted the morning with conditions much more like January rather than mid-March. The first few holes proved to be void of Mr.Steelhead...but we soon found several holes that were willing to give up a fish or two. We fished between 9 am and 2 pm landing several and loosing a couple. The river is begining to show the crowding of the spring run, however, the fish we are catching are all still winter run fish. We need some warm weather to get things rolling.

Book now to take advantage of the few spring dates left.

Fishing Report - Friday, March 18th

Fished the Muskegon with John H. and Aaron K.  We seemed to hit fish steadily through out the day.   Things slowed a bit around lunch time but then things picked back up again.  We are hitting winter fish presently, but sometimes unusual behavior can be displayed by Mr. Steelhead.   We hooked (and landed) a fish today on a retreive. The take was very strong and was very similar to a take on a streamer.   An welcome but unexpected surprise.

The river is down a bit but still is stained.

Fishing Report - March 10th / 11th

Fished the Muskegon with Jeff B. the last two days and the fishing was great as was the catching. We were met both mornings with very crisp temps and very clear skies. The morning of the 10th proved to be slower than we expected, but the afternoon made up for it. The day's totals almost reached double digits in the net. The morning of the 11th started off where we left off with fish coming from almost every run we fished. The action stayed pretty steady all day. Several fish today were in the 9-10 lb. class.

Many prime dates still open and the fishing will only get better!! Book soon before you miss out!!

Fishing Report - Sunday, March 6th

Interesting weather today. It was pretty balmy for early March. The wind made for some tough fishing. All and all we faired well and the fishing was slow and steady. We had a mixed bag of steelhead that had been in the system for a while and some that were fresh in from the lake. It is not going to be long and the main run of fish are going to start making their way in to our rivers.

Fishing Report - Saturday, Febuary 26th

Fishing has been very good this winter with excellent flows and a decent stain on the water. This Saturday's trip was no exception. We we hit fish steadily all day on the Muskegon. It wasn't a red-hot day by any means but the action was fairly steady. The morning started out quite cool...the thermo in the truck read -2 in the morning. By mid-day the air warmed up to a balmy 30 degrees.
